Resolved Question: I NEED HELP WITH 1982 D:?

So in English we were given a project where we picked a penny and whatever date we got on the penny, we had to make up a story in the time period and I got 1982 :D. Our teacher also is making us ask around, research for, or whatever for facts about the time period. I know almost nothing about the 80's so my current knowledge on the subject isnt an option >.>.
